Spring has sprung in much of the country, but brisk evenings, cool days and springtime weather still require motorcycle
gloves to keep your hands and forearms warm and dry. Even a relatively warm day will feel cooler at 50 MPH and leave your hands vulnerable to chill. Summer is on the way, but until the daytime temp reaches 75 or higher, the gloves will feel good.
And when summer comes, invest in a pair of lighter-weight gloves or maybe half-finger gloves. They provide protection while helping to keep your hands cooler.
In memory of their son Wyatt, John Barto and family are raising money to equip every Motocross racer with a custom-fit Arai helmet, the best
money can buy. They believe that if Wyatt had been wearing such a helmet two years ago, he would’ve survived the accident that took his life. The Bartos have started the “Foundation 529″ charity, which has to date given away over 40 helmets and 10 neck braces. And this charity targets young kids who don’t have the means to purchase appropriate riding gear.
The Bartos know the value of a good helmet. Please don’t let your kids ride in a hand-me-down helmet or the cheapest one you can buy. Start them off, day one, with a helmet that will protect their head in case of a crash. The reality of Motocross is that crashes do happen, accidents do occur. Even if you don’t obtain a free one from Foundation 529, invest in a helmet that will leave you with no regrets.
She’ll never look better, she’ll never ride warmer, she’ll never be safer than when riding in leather. And leather motorcycle chaps are probably at the top of her Christmas list! Order today, and we’ll deliver by Christmas!
It’s the Christmas season, and all across America motorcyclists are donning motorcycle chaps, helmets and leather boots, they’re taking to the streets on their bikes, and they’re donating toys for kids in foster care. This is a cause that melts the hearts of bikers. They collect bears and strap them to the handlebars. They collect trucks and dolls and strap them to the
rear seat. And then they ride to the local office of Social Services in order to hand these donated gifts to kids whose parents and families have, by all rights, abandoned them. Makes you proud to know or to be a biker! In a land where we want for nothing, we often forget about those less fortunate. This Christmas, let’s choose to remember. And may God bless all who donate toys, and those who are serving as foster families.

I don’t know about you, but I hate shopping, and I hate shopping in a crowded store or mall even more! So, as you can guess, I don’t ever darken the door of a mall or store on Black Friday – typically the busiest shopping day of the holiday season. If you are like me, you prefer to grab your motorcycle gear and get out in the fresh air, away from the crowds!
I’m missing all of the best deals, you argue? I disagree. Whatever I would save in my wallet I more than make up for in sanity and happiness. I shop online, I shop early, or I shop during the week. You can have Black Friday – I will take to the outdoors with family and friends!
If you’ve ever been caught in the rain on your bike, and you’ve been without leathers to keep you warm and dry, we suggest investing in this versatile, tough, yet stylish riding material. Leather is simply the best at keeping you dry and warm. And if you’ve been caught in the rain in your leathers, it is necessary to dry them out completely and to recondition them so they are ready for wear the next time you go out.
To dry your motorcycle leathers, hang them on a hanger, using clothespins where necessary, and let them drip dry without excessive heat. In fact, if you can avoid blowing heat directly on the leather, it will help to protect your leather from drying out. Leather can drip dry and then be reconditioned to soften it, which is much better than putting it in front of a heater or a dryer. And reconditioning is necessary each time the leather is wet and then dries to help lengthen the life of your riding gear.
One of the classic traditions of Americana is the cross-country motorcycle ride. It has become a symbol of freedom and a rite of passage for many. And while some people may embrace the free-wielding spirit and go wherever the wind may take them, it’s advisable to take some time to arrange some of the details for your journey. When planning for your excursion, it can be easy to overlook some basic necessities.
As anyone who lives in the Midwest or near farmland will tell you, bugs can create a mess on windshields of highway vehicles. When you are on a motorcycle, your face often has to endure the elements as well. Be sure you are prepared with a quality motorcycle face mask to prevent arrant bugs from crashing your cross-country party.
Palm Springs, CA, hosted the American Heat Motorcycle Event this year, and Sunday found the bikers, clothed in leather vests and jackets and
motorcycle chaps, worshiping God and sharing stories of faith, for some it’s a new-found faith, for others it’s an ongoing relationship. Many have traded in business suits and uniforms in exchange for leathers, many have traded in drugs, alcohol and gangs for faith in Christ and friendship in the CMA.
The CMA dates back about 35 years, and boasts at least 1000 chapters across the United States. Members come from all walks of life, some giving up professional careers or putting their careers on hold for weekend events with the CMA. Others have grown up in the motorcycle world, but instead of surrounding themselves with harmful ideology and people, they now choose to fellowship with other believers in Jesus Christ.
It seems like leather apparel and accessories have become the de facto uniform of motorcycle riders. Up until recently, I was one of those people who always donned an excessive amount of leather prior to hopping on my bike. After searching the internet for some new duds however, I’ve discovered that leather isn’t the only option when it comes to motorcycle apparel.
You can now find motorcycle gear made from textiles on the internet that are quite affordable and have the same protection as their leather counterparts. One of my favorite aspects of the textile models is the brightly colored stripes that are easy for other motorists to see. After using my new gear for a couple of weeks, I can’t imagine ever going back to my leathers.
As fall arrives, and winter is just around the corner, your motorcycle riding season can be extended almost indefinitely if you have the right gear. And the right gear includes heated jackets, heated jacket liners, heated vests, heated gloves and heated foot warmers. There is no need to winterize the bike just yet – for a small investment, compared to the comfort afforded, the right heated motorcycle gear will allow weeks, maybe months more on the bike.
